I just got the "friend" request. I didn't even notice they had that here!
I definitely accepted that, but I don't see a "friending" spot here. Whoops! I think I see it, up at top right. It says "Friends--invite" so I'll try it. By the way, where are you? I was raised at Freedom, PA, about 25 miles down the Ohio from Pittsburgh.
Just thought of something else. The guy who put me through comm, cfi and multi ratings was Charlie Skinner, an ex FAA man and a CPTP instructor in early 40's. He had a good friend with an Apache, who loaned Charlie his Apache so he could use it for my rating! I didn't even have to pay for gas!! His name was Brown, but I can't remember his first name. He was based at Pompano Beach. Everybody just seemed to call him "Brownie".
Hi John. Ya got me beat by 2 years. I soloed on Oct. 28, 1945 in a 60 hp Franklin J-3, at 4:30 hrs! When I was in the business in early 70s, as an American dealer, I had a 32-260, and it didn't seem to miss those extra 40 horses! I hauled excess baggage for the old Mackey airlines. I went to the Bahamas one day with a crated air compressor about 6 or 7 boxes of who knows what, and a long tube with a fishing rod in it. It stretched from the back wall, past my left ear, and over the corner of the panel!! I certainly agree that it was a real workhorse!! Lee Robinson West Palm Beach.
