My first non-commercial flight was my first training flight at Ft Wolters, Tx in an OH-13 helicopter. My first flight ever was in a TTA DC-3 from Ft Polk to Ft Wolters after I finished basic training. Still flying helicopters for the police dept. Also flew all kinds of fixed wing over the last 44 years. Could not have wished for a better career.

In 1949, my dad saw they were giving airplane rides at Indianapolis Weir Cook Municipal Airport, and so he went along with me on my first ride--in a red Beechcraft V-35. I was two years old, and have been hooked on aviation ever since!

August 1968 @ Mohall North Dakota, Piper PA-18. My first lesson and first ride in any airplane all in one half hour of fun.  It was a grass strip then and mostly used by Ag planes. I had a chance to fly myself there last summer and it is now a very nice paved runway, and still mostly used by Ag planes.

In the late 40's my second cousin Rich DeVos took me up in a Piper J-3. I sat on my dad's lap. I remember keeping our legs away from the stick. Rich and his best friend Jay Van Andel formed a flying service in Grand Rapids after WWII. Years later they started AMWAY.

WACO UPF7...I think (I don't know what year model it was). My dad's glider club used it as the tow plane, and I spent most all summer weekends in the early to mid-60's sitting in the front seat as a grinning 8 to 12 year old kid, going up & down, up & down... 1st solo was on 5/7/72 in my dad's 1946 Taylorcraft BC12D, N44371 @ KSUS.

Excluding UH-1 rides in Viet Nam, my first GA ride was a Cessna 172 on Fathers' Day the year I turned 65.
