In 1962 (age 14) I hitchhiked out to the Clinton Municipal Airport (Iowa) and paid $3.00 for a ride over the city in a 1962 Piper Colt. Right after I walked down to the maintenance hanger an got a ride in a 1962 Aztec (short nose with N # ending in 03P).  Been hooked ever since.

My first flight was in a RCAF Expeditor (Military version of the Beech 18). I was 14 years old and attending RCAF Air Cadet camp at the RCAF base in Abbotsford, BC, Canada. I sat in the co-pilots seat and was allowed to fly the plane for about 20 minutes.

Cessna Skyhook, at the Seattle World's Fair in 1962. Cessna used those helicopters for a very short time. We launched and landed on the top of a building. I was 13 then.

I forgot to mention that it cost the tremendous sum (to me) of 50 cents!!

My first was about 1936, when I was 10.  It was a Stinson Trimotor!  I sat on the left side in a wicker seat and looked over everything!  When we landed, I made a funny mistake.  I wanted to see the wheel touch the ground as we landed, and rested my chin on the window sill.  BAD MOVE!!  It wasn't his best landing and I got my chin bashed pretty solidly!

Cessna 172 when I was 8. My mother took me for a penny a pound ride by the civil air patrol. We flew over my home. I've been hooked ever since
