"Russia IS OFFERING for Sale to TERRORISTS a device capable of disrupting (jamming?) GPS, OMNI & other nav systems" per Aviation Publications; Nov 2011, including Aviation Week (made 2 earth shaking announcements in the Nov. 21, 2011 issue) that indicates A POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC EMINENT DANGER OF LOSS OF GPS AND OTHER CRITICAL NAVIGATION AIDS FOR CIVILIAN, COMMERCIAL AND MILITARY APPLICATIONS; AND EVEN GREATER INDUCED FAILURES OF OTHER TYPES.

Moscow based Aviaconversiya LTD actually offers for sale (to the world) a device capable of disrupting, "disabling or jamming GPS satellites and other navigation systems".

A "friendly application has been demonstrated by the US military; a cruise type missile that may be launched from the air or ground containing "Champ"; a new HPM (high powered microwave)) device capable of disrupting anything electrical.  It can turn off electrical power or computers on any specific building, or an entire city.  Developed by the U.S. it will be Used responsively, if ever, and will, undoubtedly be an enviable defensive weapon.

THE RISK OF TOTAL LOSS OF USABLE GPS SIGNALS IS REAL; A CONCERN BY THE MILITARY IN PARTICULAR.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF CAUGHT ENROUTE WHEN SUCH A CYBER ATTACK OCCURS?

THERE ARE A FEW POSSIBILITIES: per the new EBook entitled Navigate your Flying Carpet which describes 38 different methods of navigation.  Several will permit navigation without the usual including GPS & OMNI.  Author:  Ed Yung PE (Engineer, 4,600 hour Pilot, & rated Navigator, 23 Jefferson, La Porte TX 77571, fly7786@aol.com
